Leaving...

Doing correction of my thesis before printing out the hard-bound book.
I will be flying off (tomorrow) to Taiwan for  3 weeks of summer cultural exchange. I look forward to this exchange as it serves as my graduation trip and a gap before I start to lead a non-student life.

I came to the campus library with the intention to do the editing of my thesis. But I became so sentimental listening to the good relaxing songs in the very quiet ambience of the library. I feel very much want to just immerse myself in this tranquility and drift endlessly in the mellifluous songs.

But, farewell is wafting its hand with me.

I need to go for a dinner gathering with 2 of my friends. I am happy to see them.
But, it suddenly dawns on me that, I really am leaving this place soon.

After the dinner later, I will probably come back to my dormitory to start clearing the stuff in the room and packing for my Taiwan trip.
I will be flying off to a new place temporary.
What will come next?
I dunno.
Am I going to stay in Malaysia to work or go to foreign country?
What will I do in future?
There are just so many uncertainties that I feel like not thinking of them, temporary sweeping them under the carpet. Let myself enjoy my time in Taiwan for a few days (or the whole time?) before I start to worry about the future...

Ahh...Indulgence always makes you feel good but when over doing it you have to bear the consequences of the action you take.

Just let me enjoy myself, bid a proper farewell with friends that matter to me, be it temporary or a longer time, I just want to say good bye to them. I want to end this student life properly before stepping into another state of life.

hmmmmmmm......

Why do i sound so so so emotional??
this is silly.
I am happy. I am going to see my friends over the dinner. I know i will have a fun time doing crazy stuff with them later!
**Quitting Microsoft, stop editing the thesis**
** Playing 'Domino' to get myself into the fun mode again**

BYE BYE University Malaya.

(Though I will be back to submit the final thesis)..hahha...BYEEEE..

23 Birthday

Ahhh....This should be my 3rd consecutive posts about my birthday.
You may find the past years celebration in the archive. :)

http://kakikang.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-21st-birthday.html

(this is actually my 4th posts writing on birthday...HAHA...I dont have the courage to reread what I had written previously. I will want to bang my head squarely on the cold hard wall if I read those naive things I had written)

I hope I have grown wiser but not older :)

It will be a very quick update this year though.

Birthday me with curly hair. I look so different now!

Celebrated my first half of the day with her! As I drank a bit too much during the birthday eve, I woke up with OBNOXIOUS hang over.  I felt uncomfortable throughout the afternoon, wanting to vomit very much..Ended up eating just  a plain soup Udon with her in Sushi Tei @ midvalley. Also, I bought a very very very expensive "present" for myself this year. OH yea,...the old laptop screwed up so at the right right time when I had to depend heavily on it to do my revision for final exam!

Then at night, went out with another friend to have this luxurious, scrumptious, sumptuous all-Pork dinner at El Cerdo.

This was one of the dishes we ordered that night. It was the best pork i ever tasted, oozing with unforgettable taste with every mouthful bite on the succulent pork!

Hmmm...I used my fingers to eat this rib!

The "plate throwing" ceremony the neighbouring customers had. I heard that it is a Germany ceremony whereby it signifies smashing away the bad luck~

Went over to the opposite Whiskey Bar to have a little drink. This street is bustling with tourists!

One of my birthday wishes: TO have a healthier life by cutting down my alcohol intake. I had just a tiny little cup that night. It was my birthday...Oh well....
Words to myself: Stay young, and be wiser!
Happy birthday...LOL.

SIM card failure or service failure?

It happened that my iPhone was having a SIM card failure in the past few weeks. I tried to restart/ reboot my phone for umpteen times but to no avail of getting the phone service back again.  It took me a few days before I finally relented (primarily because I was bogged down with tonnes of imminent tasks in that particular week) and went to Maxis centre to fix my phone.

A recurring problem. If you notice, it happened once but revived previously.

After telling the front line about my problem he directly transferred me to the backline for a simcard replacement procedure. At the counter while waiting for the replacement, I asked the person in charge for reasons that led to this issue. To my utter astonishment, she accused me to use my phone while charging it. As I know exactly when my phone stopped functioning, I retorted that I did not charge and use but I was surfing Facebook and replying a few incoming texts through whatsapp. She then went on to say I shouldnt do that since I would overheat my phone and spoil the SIMcard.

This was when I felt the whole thing was ridiculous.

For that moment, my mind went wild with questions zip-zapping around every corner in my mind, screaming that I should not give in so easily.
Isnt it absurd that I shound't Facebook and Whatsapp at the same time?
If I cant do those tasks simultaneously, what for I  use a SMARTphone?
As you (the employee of Maxis) know that this SIM failure issue is very common, and mostly due to overheating, which end you think should be put to blame. The phone user? The service provider? The SIM card manufacturer which the service provider deals with? Or the Mighty Apple Inc? As you also know that there are so many similar cases happen, shouldnt you issue a better SIMcard, that can resist heat, (providing better service) to your customers at the first place?
Or I am the one who should bear the responsibility for not keeping my phone "cool" enough?

As I was upset to hear the absurd accusations and being charged RM25 for the new card, I decided to bombard my questions and doubts to their technical department. I demanded to check my old SIM card to make sure that it was really spoilt before replacing it. However, as it was already replaced in the backline, any service it carried was terminated by the system and rendered useless/void.

I  questioned the technician "Shouldnt Maxis check my old SIM card before replacing it?"

You dont know if the SIM card was really unusable by just a look at it right?

Fortunately, the technician understood my intention. He agreed regretfully that they should have checked the SIMcard first before directing the customers to replace their card immediately. And to my relief, he helped me to waive away the RM25 charge in the following month bill and expedite the reactivation of the telephone service.

......

This post is not meant to find fault of any party. It means to serve as a reminder to my readers that if you happen to come across this problem, please request to check the SIMCard (if it is still usable or not) first before replacing it.

The old obsolete SIMcard.

Inferno.

Finally I finished reading this book... *Sigh of relief* as I had voraciously devoured another thick book.

Forewarn: This is a spoiler/synopsis post of what I read. If you want to keep the mysteries on, kindly move your cursor to the top right corner and click the X mark.

OK..I will try to keep this simple and concise.

Robert Langdon wakes up in a foreign hospital with amnesia with 2 days worth memories loss of his life. As he is being chased down by an assassin and other important parties for reasons which he has long forgotten after waking up, he gets to know a shrewd Doctor (Sienna) whom he travels along with throughout their adventure. The story continues with Robert Langdon and Sienna working judiciously to solve the puzzles and mysteries revolving around the Inferno, which is a part of Dante Alighieri's 14-th century epic poem Divine Comedy, in order to prevent the release of a potential globally threatening virus that could kill majority of  the population on this earth. The story suspends with Robert's discovery of Sienna being deceptive in her character and she might also be the culprit behind the creation of this lethal virus. He has to choose to trust Sienna, WHO or the secret agent in order to stop this imminent death that is looming above everyone's head!

STORY ENDS.

I hope I am concise enough to recount the general picture of this whole story as precise as possible.

Comment on this book:
I like Dan Brown's book. However, I still find it hard for me to fully engage with the book. In my humble opinion, the story is a little long-winded (for me), hitting around the bush. Nevertheless, Dan Brown is a reputable all time best-seller, with his exquisite description in details and also twist-and-turn of the stories.
