There were quite BIG and memorable events happening on me in this March.
Firstly, I just attended an annual dinner which was held by my residential college. It can be said that, the event is one of the most anticipated event in this college. Before the event came, every Tom, Dick and Harry went flocking around the shopping malls in order to buy new clothes that could make them look best at that night. Initially, I was not as enthusiastic as the others as I am currently trying to save money to pay for my PTPTN loan. However, when I went out accompanying my friends to buy their new clothes, I managed to try some which looked good on me and that had changed my mind to just simply wear anything I have to the dinner. I bought a black long sleeve shirt, a grey hat ( I never dare to try a hat, but after receiving good reviews from friends when trying it, I decided that I CAN WEAR A HAT TOO!) and a pair of black skinny jeans. After that, Kyle borrowed me his grey tight-fitting vest, sleek black belt and black Converse sneakers. Wahla....I looked really nice in the outfit! I managed to get many eyes during the dinner and of course the chance of being asked to take pictures with them!
After the dinner, I followed some of my seniors to go clubbing at MOS. It was my very first experience to step into a nightclub. I quite liked the ambience of the nightclub. We just shook/swayed ourselves to the rhythm as most of us dont really know dancing. We had a few cups of alcoholic coke before leaving the club.
Ok, talking about the FESENI (festival seni), an event organised by University Malaya where myriad of artsy competitions are held to let the students perform on stage and compete against other colleges. I had been busy with the competition since before chinese new year. But, it turned worst prior the advent of the Creative Dance Competition. We had to undergo a minimum of 5 to 6 hours daily intensive practices before the competition. As the consequences, I have lagged behind in classes. I have to copy assignments and tutorials(i know it is bad) in order to meet the deadline. Besides that, during practices, we were required to do the warm up exercises and stretching and the choreography taught by our trainer, Mr Chen. The theme of our choreography is known as "BARUK" and it is based on the Bidayuh ethnic. The dance includes the ritual carried out by Bidayuh during harvest season, festival after the ritual and building up a BARUK ( a place/building where Bidayuh meets). Overall, our dance is centered on togetherness and unity amongst ourselves as Bidayuh. "You reap, what you sow; no pain,no gain;" Tough the practices were extremely tough and tiring, we managed to secure a third place in the competition eventually. It was a roaring success for us as many of us are not come from dancing background.
After the competition, we were asked if we would join again for Tarian Kreatif in next year by our seniors. For me, I am not sure if i would join again as there are just too many pros and cons to be considered!
